It is the first album to feature drummer Phil Collins as lead vocalist following the departure of Peter Gabriel in 1975 after the The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway Tour. A Trick of the Tail was released to commercial and critical success. The album peaked at # 3 in the UK and # 31 in the U.S.
